Walls With Style
It's spring and time to design a bright and airy room for a client!- So,
I wanted to show designs I love for wall covering from Quadrille- one of my favorite fabric/wall covering lines! I am trying to decide on a wall covering for a quaint sitting room that flows into a breakfast room. The color scheme is apple green, brown and white. I will mix other Quadrille fabrics in the room and furniture will be white finish and espresso finish. Which wall covering do you like? My favorite is the apple green diamond pattern!

Why Don't You....
Bazaar Magazine had a monthly column written by their legendary fashion editor Diana Vreeland, (editor from 1936 to 1962), called "Why Don't You?" It was a popular, much talked about monthly view. This March 2009 issue featured Sarah Jessica Parker in a photo shoot and candid article. In this month's feature of Bazaar, the writer and Sarah discussed her own take on "Why Don't You." It was known that Vreeland had a different way of "thinking, living and indulgence." Sarah has a down to earth viewpoint of "Why Don't You..." I loved it and I hope you do too!
WHY DON'T YOU? SARAH JESSICA PARKER
by Laura Brown
Sarah Jessica Parker shares her tips for a chic and gracious life.
- Try, for every 20 e-mails you send, to write a letter, an old-fashioned letter, and post it. Remember how good it felt to receive an actual letter or postcard in the mail? (I am going to try this one!)
- Keep a bucket filled with candy. Cheap, good candy from butterscotch hard candies to Bulls-Eyes to spice drops. Pretty cheap per pound, low calorie, and great late at night while working or staying up late reading or watching television. It will scratch the itch. (Love the candy idea- sweet tooth!)
- Use your local library. So few people do anymore. And if you are a parent, introduce your children to their neighborhood library. It will give them a real sense of independence to have their own library card and enjoy borrowing books. (I agree, was just there last week with my kids!)
- Empty out your purse twice a week, tossing all coins into a mason jar, an old coffee can or a strange shaped or not particularly practical porcelain jar. It's wonderfully surprising what you can accumulate. You can give the money to charity.(Always feels good) and its grand to do in the spring when charities are not on people's minds. (Our jar is filling up!)
- Cook or bake something outrageous that you are convinced will be impossible. The advantage to this endeavor is it can actually get you cooking more meals at home. It can be a great money saver. (Having a meal together builds a closeness in a family- we light candles and play relaxing music, sometimes we bake a cake together too.)
-Walk more. It simply feels great. And for those who have an "allergy" to working out, it's a great way to get the blood moving. If you are feeling adventurous, try putting some speed in that walk. (We walk our Italian Greyhounds- they love it and so do we- stress relief!)
- Read the editorial page of your local paper. It introduces you to opinion and can be terrifically provocative and perhaps a great motivating force for you to get involved in your community, regardless of your political ideology. (Today, with our economy's state, our community needs us!)
-Get eight hours of sleep, though I never do! (I know, there is too much to do in a day- who gets eight hours?)
Inspiration- Thanks Sarah! A list to follow! (By the way, I added my own thoughts in the parenthesis!)
